Our one year, three phase program is funded entirely by donations and we pride ourselves on our financial accountability.
Camp Aftermath consists of a 100% volunteer Board of Directors who do not take a salary, gifts, or benefits from helping our participants on their road to recovery. Additionally, we don’t take any fees for administrative functions, planning, or fundraising from the donations we receive.
Camp Aftermath volunteers in Costa Rica
All mental health support for our participants during the one year follow-up is done at no cost to them. However, there is a cost associated with the Phase 2 portion of our three phase program, which takes place in Costa Rica. Participants pay a partial fee, with the remainder subsidized by Camp Aftermath. These fees cover transportation, food and lodging, and Camp Aftermath’s donation to our partner agency, Costa Rican Humanitarian Foundation, which pays for all costs of the volunteer project and materials. All of the donations we receive fund this portion of our program. So far, we have funded two rotations of participants (five in 2019 and four in 2020). We are hoping to launch our first female cohort in spring 2021! However, without the generous support of our community, we would not be able to help veterans and first responders.
We are immensely grateful for our volunteers, advisory committee members, mental health experts, and supporters for everything they do because of their passion to help us support veterans and first responders living with PTSD and OSI.
